Transak Receives Full Authorization with the UK FCA as a Registered Crypto-Asset Firm
Today, Transak is incredibly excited to announce that we have been approved as a registered Cryptoasset Firm by the UK's FCA (Financial Conduct Authority). This is a huge milestone for us. Transak is the 30th firm in the world to receive this license. The registration is done under our UK subsidiary 'Light Technology Limited' and can be found at https://register.fca.org.uk/s/firm?id=0014G00002WMs6zQAD
This license will help us towards our goal to build and improve our product, becoming the best tool for developers to bring mainstream users to crypto in Web3 and Web2 apps.
Despite being granted a license, this doesn't change any of the actual processes we already have in place since we were already complying with our AML and other regulatory requirements, and we had secured a place on the FCA's temporary register before.
This is the first step in Transak's main goal of becoming a worldwide cryptoasset provider. We are already working on expanding our license coverage in the US and other territories.
Transak announces its new compliance team
We are also pleased to announce Elisabete (Liz) Botinas as our Chief Compliance Officer. Liz was previously Chief Compliance Officer at Uphold Crypto Exchange for 6 years and built all of their compliance, licensing, and risk operations from scratch. Liz is now building out our global portfolio of licensing and global risk and compliance operations.
James Young joins us as Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) and Head of Compliance for the UK and Europe. James brings a wealth of experience from leading payments institutions as well as from the FCA's Enforcement Division where he started his career. He also holds a Diploma in Governance, Risk, and Compliance with the International Compliance Association and a Master's in Corporate and Financial Law.
Liz and James are supported by our global compliance team.
